Man that’s a good looking sports car. I’d say the first gen RX7 is right up there with an original 911 in terms of classicly good looking sports cars.

Oh man, that is my daily driver from about ‘ 91 to ‘ 97 or so, color, wheels, even the pinstripe. I miss that car, agree with the comment about these being classicly oh so right in the looks dept., and a hoot to drive too. I upgraded my stereo to the analog equalizer unit, that was so cool.

Thanks!
I’ve got the digital tuner / graphic EQ stack on the bench in the basement, almost done refurbishing them to swap in - it’s still cool.

Now many miles on this car? Looks very good. Engine is running solid? What motor oil do you run in that?

182k-ish. The engine runs really well and pulls hard. Starts right up hot or cold - I suspect it was rebuilt at some point, or very very well maintained. I don’t have any records from before I got the car a little over a year ago. I run regular Pennzoil 10W-40.

Replacing those engines was a thing. Have you ever read the boards about what engine
oil people use in those rotary engines?

I’m familiar with it, yeah. As long as it’s a conventional modern-quality oil of an appropriate weight (rotaries run hot) it’ll be fine. Avoid synthetics since the engine burns a little oil by design (keeps the seals lubricated) and synthetic doesn’t really burn very well and leaves a bunch of deposits and such.
